Getaways from Coron

"Get your bike, and go exploring"

Busuanga Island is a paradise for history, culture, and adventure lovers, with the west coast boasting landmarks that showcase its unique charm—all conveniently accessible from Coron Town.

Starting your road trip from Coron Town in the morning is ideal to make the most of your day. With just one highway heading west, getting lost is nearly impossible. While vans, both shared and private, are available for trips, exploring by motorbike offers the most excitement. Coron has plenty of motorbike rental options, making it easy to find one that fits your style.

As soon as you leave from Coron, the first stop could be the Malbato Chapel or the Kingfisher Park, located more or less 20-25 minutes far from Coron Town, depending on your speed.

About another 20 minutes later you will arrive to Busuaga Bay, without any doubt the most beautiful bay in Palawan. If you are an adventurous soul we do recommend you to rent a kayak and go exploring the existing mangroves and the shipwreck parked in the bay. This bay offers different places where to have a drink, snacks and even a quick jump into a pool.

Continuing your journey, you’ll come across the Concepcion Waterfalls. Conveniently located next to the road, they’re a fantastic spot for taking pictures. However, during the dry season (December to May), the falls aren’t as impressive.

If you continue heading northwest, you will come across a checkpoint where an environmental fee is collected from visitors who wish to pass through. As of November 2025, the fee is 200₱ per person and valid for 10 days. Around 15 minutes after the checkpoint (90 minutes from Coron Town), you’ll arrive at Salvacion Town, the second-largest in population and importance on Busuanga Island, following Coron Town. You will be able to explore a village with limited tourism impact, have a drink or snacks and interact with locals.

Beyond Salvacion Town, you can explore Ocam Ocam Beach, that is about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Coron Town, or visit the Wildlife Reserve Sanctuary in the northwestern tip of Busuanga Island.

The Calauit Safari Park is about 3h ride from Coron Town, which features African animals in a lush tropical environment.

Other places to visit along the way include Chinibayan Falls, Bayuyan Beach, Degtayan Falls, and Barangay New Busuanga.

The west coast of Busuanga also boasts incredible islands worth exploring, such as Pass Island and Black Island.

Be sure to check the Busuanga tourism guide for more details or the FAQ bellow for any question yoy may have.

It depends on several factors, like how many stops you make, how long those stops are, and most importantly, how far you plan to go. The furthest point, Ocam Ocam Beach, is about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Coron Town, meaning you’ll spend around 5 hours on the motorbike for a round trip. In the other hand, if you only visit spots up to Concepcion Falls, it’s about 50 minutes one way and another 50 minutes back to town.

All of them are worth visiting, but if you want a less stressful road trip, we can narrow down the list. If capturing stunning photos is your goal, Busuanga Bay should definitely be included. It features a climbable shipwreck, mangroves to explore by kayak, and lovely restaurants and resorts with pools where you can relax during the hottest hours of the day. Concepcion Falls or other nearby waterfalls are also captivating, and strolling through the streets of any barangay along the way adds a touch of immersion into the local lifestyle in a place still untouched by heavy tourism.

A van is definitely more comfortable, and if you’re not in the mood to ride a motorbike all the way to Busuanga, it might be your best option. On the other hand, a motorbike offers the unique experience of driving through the heart of the Philippines and seeing the road from a different perspective. Riding a motorbike on Busuanga Island isn’t risky as long as you follow safety precautions and use common sense. Most visitors doing the Busuanga road trip prefer motorbikes. Coron offers hundreds of motorbikes for rent, along with various van rental companies to choose from.

A full-day van rental with a driver typically costs around 3,000₱ – 3,500₱, including the driver and fuel. Vans usually accommodate up to 12 people in a high-occupancy setup or 6-8 people in a more comfortable configuration. Renting a comfortable motorbike for the entire day ranges from 550₱ – 700₱. Cheaper motorbikes are available, but they might be too small, especially for two passengers. This is, of course, the decision of the client.

Kayak retal is way cheaper in Busuanga compared to Coron. Standard prices are 250₱ per hour for a single kayak or 350₱ for a double or triple seater kayak. Paddles and life jackets for all the passengers should be always included.

Absolutely yes, especially if you want to escape the crowds of Coron. Busuanga offers plenty of great accommodations, often cheaper than those in the same category in Coron Town. Staying overnight in Busuanga will enrich your travel experience as it is a spot less affected by mass tourism.

With few exceptions, tours leave from the Coron Public  Pier near the Coast Guard Station. It’s easy to spot, as many tourists will be gathered there, waiting for the call to board their boats.

Yes, especially if you’re planning to stay under the sun during the peak hours of the day. The sun can be harsh on your skin if you’re exposed for too long, even while swimming or snorkeling, as its radiation can seriously affect your skin. IMPORTANT ADVICE: Avoid buying sunscreen from vendors near the departure area, as in many cases, they aren’t selling real sunscreen and won’t protect your skin. It’s better to bring sunscreen from home or buy it at one of the certified pharmacies in town that sell authentic products.

Whatever you choose, whether a private or shared tour in Coron Island or further from town, you’ll be taken to pristine waters where snorkeling is an absolute must. Make sure the bangka you hired includes snorkeling gear, or consider buying or renting a set in town. Bring your camera, underwater camera, drone, or any gear to capture the unforgettable moments. Also, carry some cash, as there are spots where you can grab a beer, soft drinks, or some pica-pica. Don’t forget to bring your medicines if you’re under treatment, and ensure your smartphone is fully charged. Although it’s not common, rough seas can cause the bangka to splash water onto the deck. A simple and affordable way to protect your smartphone, wallet, and other belongings is by using a waterproof bag, which can be easily found in many stores around town.
