Learn how to move around the island using vans, tricycles or motorbykes.
Moving around the island
The National Highway spans Busuanga Island from east to west, connecting Coron, Busuanga Airport, and other destinations.
Several companies operate scheduled trips from Coron to the airport, Concepcion, and Salvacion on the island’s west coast. You can book a single seat on these vans or hire a private one for yourself or your group.
A single seat typically costs around 250₱ per person, while renting an entire van usually ranges from 1500₱ to 3000₱, depending on the company, vehicle type, and itinerary.
Q Transport Services is the most recommended transfers company in Coron and Busuanga.
Q Transport Services
Qvan Transport is the largest transfers company in the entire island. They operate scheduled trips from Coron to Busuanga and charter trips from Coron to the airport and viceversa.
They can also arrange private trips for excursions to any corner of the entire island.
Moving around Coron Town
As soon as you arrive in Coron Town, you’ll notice the traffic can be quite chaotic. There are no traffic lights, and road signs aren’t where they should be, so you’ll often see motorbikes and vehicles going the wrong way or making U-turns where they shouldn’t. During rush hours, you’ll witness even more of this disorder.
Both locals and tourists often use tricycles or motorbikes to get around town. Tricycles can be hired for shared or private trips; if you’re traveling solo, a shared trip is usually the best option, while groups of two or more are recommended to opt for a private trip.
Motorbikes offer a major advantage by allowing you to navigate through traffic more quickly than tricycles or vans. There are plenty of motorbike rental companies in Coron town ready to rent out their bikes.
Should I book my airport transfer advance?
It’s not mandatory, but it will definitely make your life easier. Arranging your transfer in advance means someone will be waiting for you at the airport with your name on a sign. Easy, simple, and convenient. On the other hand, if your transfer isn’t arranged, you might end up losing some time trying to sort it out.
What are the chances of getting scammed on a van service?
The risk is minimal, especially if you book with one of the operators listed on this website. To stay safe, you can arrange the transfer with payment upon arrival, ensuring you won’t lose any downpayment if no one is there to meet you at the agreed location.
Do the drivers have adequate skills?
All van drivers are required to have a valid license, and their vehicles must be registered with a plate in the LTO (Land Transport Office). If you notice the driver behaving irresponsibly at any point during the service, you can always ask him to stop acting that way. You certainly won’t be the first or the last to do so.
How much does a tricycle ride cost in Coron Town proper?
Good question! The LGU (Local Government Unit) regulates the traffic fares for public transport in urban areas and surroundings but does not strictly enforce them. As a guide, a shared tricycle trip within the town may cost around 15₱-20₱ per person on a fixed route. You can get off the tricycle at the nearest point to your destination. A private ride may cost anywhere from 60₱ to 150₱, depending on the distance and the load. To avoid disputes or misunderstandings, it is always recommended to agree on the fare before boarding the tricycle.
What are the chances of getting scammed on a tricycle ride?
Unfortunately, the risk of getting scammed can often be quite high. Tricycle drivers often raise their prices when they realize they’re the only option available. This is a common situation, such as when leaving the Port of Coron after a ferry arrival, where the fee can be five to ten times higher than the regular rate. If ever you find the asked fee unreasonable, you can always keep walking toward your destination and ask other drivers along the way. Sooner or later, you might come across more reasonable prices.
